FAQS

Frequently asked questions

Where are you located?

We're at 3845 Mitchell Highway, Guyong NSW 2798, on the corner of the Mitchell Highway and Pretty Plains Road, between Bathurst and Orange.

How can I contact you?

Call us on (02) 6368 7177 or email reception@petcare-extraordinaire.com.au. Our office is open 8am to 5pm, seven days a week, and closed on NSW public holidays and some extra days over Christmas and Easter.

What are your opening hours?

Our office is open 8am to 5pm, seven days a week. We're closed on all NSW public holidays and on some extra days over the Christmas and Easter periods, so check-ins and check-outs can't happen on those days.

Can I visit and look around before I book?

Yes, you're welcome to see our facilities any time during office hours, 8am to 5pm. We'd appreciate a call first on (02) 6368 7177 so we can fit your visit around the day's care routine.

How do I make a booking?

Fill in our online booking request form or call us on (02) 6368 7177. Our office replies within one business day, usually the same day. Your booking isn't confirmed until we confirm it with you, and all bookings are subject to availability.

Can I book several pets at once?

Yes. You can add all your pets to one booking request. If you're booking a large group, you're welcome to call us on (02) 6368 7177 to talk it through.

Do you offer day camp?

Yes, for dogs and cats, with supervised playtime included (for cats, that's our Purr and Play session). Drop-off and pick-up times are the same as our check-in and check-out times. Peak rates apply on weekends, public holidays and NSW school holidays.

Where can I see your current rates?

Our current schedule of fees, effective 1 March 2026, is on our Rates page. Our office confirms the final price for your stay when your booking is confirmed.

How are boarding days charged?

Boarding is charged per calendar day, regardless of what time you check in or check out. An overnight stay counts as two calendar days.

Do weekends and holidays cost more?

Yes. Peak rates apply on weekends, public holidays and NSW school holidays. Standard rates apply Monday to Friday outside those times. You can see both on our Rates page.

Do you have rates for long stays?

Yes. For dogs and cats, long-term rates apply from day 29 of continuous boarding through to check-out. Long stays also include a bath before going home.

Do I need to pay a deposit?

We require a non-refundable deposit from new customers and for bookings over public holidays and NSW school holidays. We may waive it at our discretion.

How can I pay?

You can pay by card, cash or bank transfer. Fees are due when you collect your pet, unless other arrangements have been agreed with us in writing beforehand.

What are your check-in and check-out times?

Check-in and check-out are between 8am and 5pm. To give your pet time to settle, we ask that you check in by 4:00pm, and we'd prefer you collect your pet by 4:30pm, as our office closes promptly at 5pm. Drop-off from 7am to 8am is by appointment.

What happens if I'm running late to pick up my pet?

Please call us on (02) 6368 7177 as soon as you know you'll be late. Our office closes promptly at 5pm, so a late pick-up fee may apply after 5pm to cover our team staying back, or we can look after your pet until the following day.

What should I bring for my pet's stay?

We provide everything your pet needs, including food and bedding, but you're welcome to bring your own. Please label anything you bring. We take care with belongings but can't accept responsibility if items are lost.

What food do you provide?

Dogs get BARF (a natural raw dog food) and premium kibble. Cats get quality wet food and premium kibble. We're also happy to manage special diets, so please tell us when you book.

What vaccinations does my dog need?

Dogs need a current C5 vaccination (distemper, parvovirus, hepatitis, parainfluenza and bordetella) given within the last 12 months. C3 and C4 don't meet our requirements.

What vaccinations does my cat need?

Cats need a current F3 vaccination, which covers cat flu and feline enteritis, given within the last 12 months. Kittens must be at least four months old.

When do I need to provide my pet's vaccination certificate?

Your pet's vaccination certificate must be provided at or before check-in. If you can, please email a copy to reception@petcare-extraordinaire.com.au before your drop-off day.

How old does my puppy or kitten need to be?

Because of the risk of parvovirus, we can't board puppies under four months old. Cats need to be at least four months old.

What happens if my pet becomes unwell during their stay?

If your pet becomes unwell, we'll contact you and your nominated vet. If we can't reach you and your pet needs care, we'll arrange veterinary treatment. Vet costs are paid by the owner.

Can you give my pet medication?

Our trained staff can give oral medication for a small fee per dose. We usually can't give injections, such as insulin, that must be timed outside our staffed hours, so please call us before booking.

Can you board my dog if they're anxious or reactive?

Please call us on (02) 6368 7177 before booking if your dog is anxious, reactive or has behaviour concerns. Our team will talk with you about whether our kennels will suit your dog.

Are small and large dogs kept separately?

Yes, on request. We have a separate small dog compound with air-conditioned sleeping areas, and a large dog compound with shaded, turfed exercise yards.

How do you keep pets comfortable in hot and cold weather?

Small dogs and cats have air-conditioned accommodation. Big dogs have insulated kennels, a misting system for hot days, and optional heat pads in cooler weather for a small daily fee.

What extra playtime can I add to my pet's stay?

For dogs: individual playtime (15 minutes), group playtime with two team members (30 minutes) or family playtime (15 minutes). For cats: Purr and Play, a one-on-one enrichment and cuddle session. Playtime is included with day camp.

Is someone on site to look after the pets?

Yes. Our owners live on site, and our team is here caring for the pets from 7am to 5pm every day. Outside office hours the office is closed, so please contact us between 8am and 5pm.

Do you board animals other than dogs and cats?

Yes. We board rabbits, guinea pigs, ferrets, rats, mice, caged birds, chooks and ducks. For any other animal, please call us on (02) 6368 7177 to discuss.
